Finding places in Australia

Use Search All Places to search by product, administrative area, region, category and place features. The Use My Location button asks your browser for your current location, then lets you sort places from closest to furthest.

The country selector chooses where you want to plan, not where you are physically located. You can plan a New Zealand or United Kingdom holiday while in Australia; each country has its own temporary route and saved-route list. Switching country preserves your other routes, and stops from different countries cannot be mixed.

Use the kilometre slider to choose a local distance from your starting point, or choose Show All for an unlimited-distance search across Australia. Distance filters are approximate planning aids only and do not optimise routes. Each route remains within the currently selected country.

Finding public events

Use Events to find approved farm, food and regional events by date, category, state or territory or Region. Enter a suburb, postcode or address, or deliberately choose Use My Current Location, then use the distance slider to narrow or widen the results. Your starting point is used to calculate approximate distances and is not displayed on event results.

Events appear only while approved and within their public discovery period, and disappear after their stated local end. Confirm times, tickets, access, cancellations and other important details with the official organiser before travelling. Public dated Events are separate from FarmGateRun’s private-event offers and group-booking enquiries. Read the complete Public Events guide.

Delivery Only businesses

Delivery Only businesses deliver products or services but do not receive visitors or customer pickups at their operating address. They may also advertise separate public market and collection locations through their Brand page. They are listed in a separate directory and cannot be added to maps, nearby searches, check-ins or driving routes. FarmGateRun keeps their exact address and map position private.

Delivery areas, charges, order minimums and availability are supplied by the business. Confirm these directly before ordering; FarmGateRun does not process orders, delivery or payment.

Farm Experiences

Farm Experiences are approved activities visitors can do at a listed place, such as pick-your-own produce, farm tours, tastings, animal encounters, workshops, farm stays and seasonal events. Use an experience page, Search All Places or the route planner’s Things to Do filter to find them and add suitable places to your route.

Availability, age limits, accessibility, supervision, prices and booking requirements are supplied by the business or contributor and may change. Confirm safety and access requirements directly before travelling. FarmGateRun does not take experience bookings or payments; bookings, cancellations and refunds remain between the traveller and the business. Read the complete Farm Experiences guide.

Food & Farm Trails

Food & Farm Trails are themed regional collections curated by approved regional organisations and reviewed by FarmGateRun. They are separate from traveller-created Community Routes. Trail publication is a planning suggestion, not certification of a business, road, booking, food, safety or accessibility information.

Available stops can be added to your private route, copied privately when the publisher permits it, or opened in Google Maps. Current listing privacy, visibility, delivery-only, opt-out, hold and route-eligibility rules are rechecked each time. Your private start is never published to the trail. Councils, tourism organisations, cooperatives, associations and other eligible organisations can read about eligibility on Trail Partners. Approved Trail Partner Managers and Owners can submit moderated organisation profile requests from their private dashboard; approved public details remain unchanged until FarmGateRun approval. Read the complete Food & Farm Trails guide.

Finding Farm Stays and Caravan Parks

Use the Farm Stays in Australia or Caravan Parks page to filter approved accommodation listings. Listing details are supplied by the operator, so confirm important details directly before travelling.

Hiring Now

Hiring Now allows an approved business to indicate that it currently welcomes job enquiries during its published opening hours. Travellers can use the Hiring Now filter in Search All Places or Explore the Map and add suitable businesses to their normal route. Contact the business before travelling. FarmGateRun does not process applications or guarantee employment.

Produce Alerts

Produce Alerts show produce that approved businesses expect soon or have recently confirmed as available. Signed-in travellers with a verified email can choose Definitely Interested, Maybe Interested or Remind Me, provide optional quantity and pickup preferences, and choose which updates to receive.

Showing interest does not reserve produce, create an order or guarantee availability. Check the latest status before travelling. Alerts marked Available Now show when they were last confirmed, require an expiry or review date, warn as review approaches and stop appearing as current after expiry.

The optional note is shown to the farmer without the traveller's name, email address, user ID or recipient record. Approved listing owners can view only anonymous aggregate demand and optional planning details, then use Mark Available Now to confirm current price, quantity and pickup details before notifying eligible travellers.

Adding an overnight stop

Open an approved Farm Stay or Caravan Park and choose Add as Overnight. An overnight stop is placed last for that route day. For a multi-day saved route, the overnight location becomes the following day’s starting location where appropriate.

Opening multi-day routes

Multi-day trips open one day at a time in Google Maps so that each day’s stops can be displayed reliably. Use the separate Open Day in Google Maps button for each day.

Shared Routes

Saved routes are private by default. Open a saved route and choose Share route to publish a fixed, privacy-safe version with a permanent FarmGateRun link and QR code. Your GPS or home starting point is never published; use a public town or landmark label instead.

Choose Anyone with the link for an unlisted route, or apply for the moderated Community Routes directory. Later edits remain private until you choose Publish Route Changes. Making a route private deactivates its link, and reactivating it uses the same link unless you explicitly regenerate it.

Homepage example route

The See a FarmGateRun in Action section uses a real, active published route to show how separate food and accommodation stops become one ordered journey. Choose View Example Route to review the published example without changing My Route, or Build My Own Route to open your private planner. Existing private stops are not automatically removed. The example hides automatically if a stop is no longer approved or cannot be mapped.

Copying or adding a shared route

Viewing is separate from copying. Choose Add These Stops to My Route only when you deliberately want the currently available published stops added; duplicate stops are skipped. If the creator permits copying, a signed-in traveller can save a separate private copy. Copies never become public automatically.

The published start is a general public label, not your actual starting location. Choose Use My Location or enter an address or suburb when building your private route. Your start does not change the published route.

Sharing a route online or in print

Every published route has a permanent short link, QR code downloads for websites and high-resolution printing, a printable route card and social-sharing actions. Businesses can copy ready-to-use website button HTML. QR, website and social source markers are used only for aggregate route activity.

If a route is unsafe, inaccurate, broken, inappropriate, breaches privacy or copyright, or misleadingly implies a business association, use Report this route. FarmGateRun administrators can review the route, reports and suggested destination placements.

Free Business QR Code Toolkit

Business listing QR codes are available after a listing is approved, published and claimed and its owner account is active with a verified email address. Open My Listings or the business dashboard and choose Open Free QR Toolkit. The listing QR opens the current FarmGateRun business page, where travellers can view approved details, save the business and add it to a route.

  • Downloadable FarmGateRun listing QR code
  • Up to 5 active custom QR codes
  • SVG for professional printing
  • High-resolution and web PNG downloads
  • Printable QR cards
  • QR code storage and version history

Custom QR codes are static and direct: they contain the exact secure destination entered when created and do not pass through a FarmGateRun redirect. Replacing a destination creates a new version, so previously printed copies continue to open the old destination. Learn about free business QR codes.

Before printing, scan a proof with more than one phone and confirm that it opens the intended destination. Keep a clear white margin around the code, do not crop or stretch it, and print it large enough to scan comfortably. FarmGateRun-hosted listing links may include a source marker for aggregate activity without identifying the traveller to the business.

QR destinations and Traveller Rewards

FarmGateRun does not offer cashback, points, stored value or a paid traveller membership. If percentage-based Traveller Rewards are enabled, the relevant screen identifies the reward terms before a business publishes it.

A Traveller Reward, if enabled, is applied by the participating business through its normal checkout. FarmGateRun may confirm eligibility and calculate the advertised percentage discount, but it does not take payment, hold reward balances or process refunds.

Business destination routes

An authorised business can open its approved listing and choose Create a Scenic Route to My Business. FarmGateRun creates a private route with the business kept as the final destination. Add other approved stops, review the order and public information, then publish it when ready.

Managing listing photos and videos

Business owners and authorised representatives can open a listing’s media manager to upload multiple supported images, MP4/WebM/MOV videos or YouTube/Vimeo links. Each listing can hold up to 40 listing photos, and its public gallery will display every published media item. On a phone, use Take a photo for the rear camera or Choose photos for the gallery. Android, the browser or Camera app may ask permission for that deliberate photo action; FarmGateRun does not receive ongoing in-page camera access. The control shows the formats and effective server size available on that installation.

The first List Your Business save sends its details and selected media together. It retries a broken connection up to three times with the same protected submission key, preventing a second listing when a response is lost. Media Manager then sends files one at a time with live progress, prevents completed files from being resent and keeps failed files available for retry while the page remains open. Interrupted traveller and video files make up to three automatic reconnect attempts with the same protected upload ID; use the progress panel to stop and keep remaining files for manual retry. Closing the tab or browser ends that in-memory retry queue. Choose a featured image, move items earlier or later, rotate images left, right or back to the original display, and hide or remove media that should not be public.

Only upload media you created, own or have permission to share. Captions, alternative text and credits help travellers understand the listing and keep attribution clear. New community media remains subject to approval.

Bookings and enquiries

FarmGateRun does not confirm availability or process accommodation bookings or payments. An enquiry is not a booking. Book, pay, change or cancel directly with the accommodation provider.

Private Events and Group Bookings

Eligible claimed and verified businesses can publish public or unlisted private-event offers. Open an offer to send an enquiry, discuss requirements privately and receive an itemised quote. An enquiry, availability entry or quote is not a confirmed booking; the business must confirm a booking manually.

Public offers can appear in search and search engines. Unlisted offers are available only to people who have the link and are not added to the sitemap. Treat an unlisted link like a private invitation. Private messages, contact details, attendee information and internal notes are shown only to authorised participants and administrators.

FarmGateRun does not process event payments, deposits, cancellations or refunds. A business may provide a suggested FarmGateRun route and a private-event QR code, but travellers should still confirm access, timing and all event conditions directly.

Customer notice: FarmGateRun provides the enquiry and quotation tools. The event agreement is between you and the business. Confirm all inclusions, licences, insurance, accessibility and cancellation conditions before proceeding.

Caravan route safety

FarmGateRun does not currently account for caravan dimensions, towing restrictions, low clearances, weight limits, unsealed roads, seasonal closures or live road conditions. Check the route, current conditions and park access requirements before travelling.

Adding a place you have visited

Logged-in Travellers who are at the place can choose Quick Add a Place. FarmGateRun requests the current location and fills the address and coordinates; the Traveller enters the place name, then uses the separate Take a photo or Choose from gallery action for one main photo. Android, the browser or Camera app may ask permission for that deliberate photo action; FarmGateRun does not receive ongoing in-page camera access. Quick Add is not shown to Business Accounts and never gives business-management access.

For a more detailed contribution, choose Add a Place You Have Visited, check the possible matches, then provide the place name, category and address. You can take a new photo or select several gallery photos. FarmGateRun uploads each one separately, keeps successful photos and automatically retries an interrupted photo up to three times. You can stop or manually retry the remaining photos while the page remains open. Every Quick Add and full contribution is reviewed before publication and identified as traveller-added.

Open My Contributions to maintain a place you originally added while it remains unclaimed. You can correct pending details, add more photos or videos while the place is still awaiting approval, submit moderated changes to an approved place, edit or withdraw pending media, and remove media you personally contributed. This is contributor access rather than business ownership: you cannot select the Primary Image, reorder the complete gallery, manage somebody else’s media or publish without review. Access ends when a business claim begins or the contribution is merged.

Social links for places you added

You remain a normal Traveller. This does not create a separate Influencer account and does not require a Business Account, plan or payment.

  1. Add your Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or other public social profile on Social Links for Places I Added.
  2. Open My Contributions and select Add Social Link beside a place you created through Add a Place.
  3. Choose your social profile, paste the direct post, reel, video or article URL for that particular listing, add any required promotion disclosure, and submit it for FarmGateRun review.

Every listing may use a different link, so a Traveller who created 100 listings may submit an appropriate link for each one. A visit, check-in, favourite or route stop does not grant permission to add a link. A later business claim does not give the owner control over the Traveller’s link. FarmGateRun links to the external page but does not fetch, copy or embed its content.

FarmGateRun Country Kitchen

Verified Traveller and Business accounts can preserve and share recipes for free from My Recipes. Recipe reviewers see the submitted photos and videos with the recipe, so ordinary media is approved with the recipe rather than through another separate decision. Original documents retain a privacy and copyright review. Approved content remains public while a later edit is reviewed.

Add one moderated profile photo from My Account. Once approved it appears beside all your approved recipes; without one, FarmGateRun displays your initials. Visitors may use Original Recipe when approved original material exists, or choose Metric and US / Imperial. Signed-in users may save recipes privately in My Cookbook and submit a moderated I Made This note/photo.

See the Country Kitchen manual for the full recipe, official-link, media, privacy and food-safety workflow.

Check-ins and previous visits

Choose Record a Visit on a listing. Current-location verification is optional. FarmGateRun compares your location securely with the listing, but never publishes your exact check-in coordinates. Previous visits can be recorded with a date.

Visitor reviews and business responses

Reviews are available only for claimed, published business listings. Sign in with a verified FarmGateRun account and review only a first-hand visit, stay, purchase, order or direct service experience. You may have one review per listing and can edit that review. New reviews and edits are moderated before publication; while an edit is pending, the previous approved version remains public.

The rating shown to visitors is the honest arithmetic average of approved, published, non-hidden ratings and the count shows only those public review versions. A pending or rejected edit does not replace an earlier approved version. A separate internal Bayesian score may use the site-wide published-review average and a confidence baseline to make discovery ordering less volatile when there are only a few reviews. It is not the displayed average and does not alter any review. A Location-verified visit or Recorded visit badge may provide extra context, but FarmGateRun never displays the visit's exact location or gives those coordinates to the business.

An authorised owner or manager may submit one moderated reply to each published review, labelled Response from the business. If an approved response is edited, its previous approved version remains public while the edit is moderated. Reviews must be first-hand; reviews and replies must be respectful and free of conflicts, incentives, private information, threats, harassment, spam, copied material and unsupported factual allegations. Report a specific rule breach for review; a business cannot remove honest criticism simply because it disagrees. Read the Visitor Review Content Policy or the step-by-step User Manual.

Claiming a community listing

An authorised owner or representative can choose Claim This Listing. FarmGateRun verifies the relationship before assigning management access. Contributors remain credited internally and their approved visits are preserved.

Brands, Stockists and Where to Buy

Where to Buy helps travellers find approved stockists, regular markets and collection points for a participating local brand. It is not live inventory: product range and availability can change, so contact the store before making a special trip.

If a producer has no farm shop and does not allow customer visits, pickup or direct delivery, choose Producer / Brand only for its producer listing. That private producer location is excluded from ordinary maps and traveller routes while its approved Brand profile can direct customers to approved stockists.

Register a Brand

  1. Have an active Business/Producer account with a verified email.
  2. Own an approved and published producer listing in the pilot country—currently Australia.
  3. Go to Business Dashboard → Brand Locations.
  4. Select the producer listing that owns the brand.
  5. Enter the brand name and optional tagline, website, description and availability note.
  6. Confirm you are authorised to represent the brand and accept the stockist terms.
  7. Select Create private draft.
  8. On the Brand Profile, optionally select approved products and a published image/logo from the producer listing.
  9. Save it, then select Submit current revision for review.
  10. An administrator approves, requests changes or rejects it through Admin → Brand Stockists.

Authorised producers use Brand Locations to link their brand to a shared venue listing and manage their own attendance or collection schedule. Linking a brand does not give the producer ownership or management of the retailer listing. Retailers can claim their listing, correct their details, confirm or dispute a relationship, or opt out.

Delivery Runs are private planning aids for authorised business managers. They cannot be shared as traveller routes and do not create orders, invoices, delivery contracts or proof of delivery.

Read the Brands, Stockists and Where to Buy guide.

Market schedules, pickup points and ordering ahead

Can a delivery business advertise market pickup locations?

Yes. An approved delivery business can use Brand Locations to add public markets and collection points. Its operating address stays private. Customers can find the business through Delivery Only and its Where to Buy or Collect page.

How do I add weekly market and collection times?

Open Business Dashboard → Brand Locations, manage your brand and choose Add location. Search for the venue first, then select Regular market or Order collection point. Add the first date, weekly or fortnightly recurrence, collection times and venue time zone. You can also add a single date. Save the draft and submit it for review.

Can customers order ahead for free collection?

Businesses can mark collection as free, say whether ordering ahead is available or required, and provide an ordering link, order cutoff and collection instructions. Customers order and pay directly with the business. FarmGateRun does not take orders or reserve products.

How do I cancel a market date or change a pickup schedule?

Edit the location and add a skipped date in YYYY-MM-DD format for each cancelled visit. Add a single-date schedule for a replacement visit, or change the recurring schedule and submit it for review. Approved details stay visible while edits are reviewed. Use Pause now to hide the whole relationship immediately when customers should not travel.

Can I add a market collection point to my route?

A published customer venue can be added from its brand page when it has an upcoming schedule. Check the advertised date, collection hours and order cutoff before travelling. Adding a route stop does not place an order, book a time or reserve a collection.

Business help

Business owners can create a free Business Account and continue directly to Add Listing after email verification, use the 60-second no-account permission form, or claim an existing listing.

The no-account form records your name, business name, email and the exact public website or social pages FarmGateRun may review. Open the private email link and press Confirm Permission; confirmation never publishes a listing automatically. An administrator still checks the request. You can use the same private link to request a correction or withdraw permission. No image is taken from those pages unless you separately select the optional business-owned image permission.

No payment card. No subscription. No expiry. Standard Business Accounts and core tools are free, including normal listing visibility, approved links, Produce Alerts, Hiring, QR tools and basic statistics.

Book Online and Order Online links

An authorised Business Account can add one approved HTTPS booking or online ordering link to each eligible claimed listing. It opens the business’s own website or chosen provider; FarmGateRun does not process the booking, order or payment.
