Food Safety and Producer Responsibility
FarmGateRun connects visitors with farms, producers and local food pickup points. FarmGateRun does not prepare, package, sell or deliver food.
Food sellers are responsible for complying with applicable Australian food safety laws, council requirements, food business registration or notification requirements, labelling obligations and allergen disclosure requirements.
This applies to farms, farm-gate shops, roadside stalls, market sellers, butchers, bakeries, seafood sellers, home-based food businesses, caterers, preserves and jam makers, dairy and cheese producers and other listed food businesses.
Home-based food businesses must check their obligations before selling food. Requirements may depend on the type of food, how it is prepared, where it is prepared, where it is sold and the local council area.
FarmGateRun may ask producers to provide food safety notes, council registration information, allergen notes and pickup instructions. Displaying this information does not mean FarmGateRun guarantees or certifies the food business.
Visitors should check product details before pickup, ask producers about allergens where relevant, confirm storage and pickup requirements, follow producer instructions and use their own judgement when choosing where to buy food.
Producers should keep listing information accurate, keep product information current, provide clear pickup instructions, provide allergen information where relevant, avoid misleading claims and meet all applicable legal and food safety obligations.
FarmGateRun may reject, hide or remove listings that appear unsafe, misleading, incomplete or unsuitable.
